Who We Are

We are an independent workshop specializing in the modification and assembly of custom watches. Our work involves combining genuine mechanical movements with quality aftermarket components — cases, dials, hands, and bracelets — to create unique pieces with their own identity.

This practice, known in the watch community as "modding," is a widely recognized and fully legitimate activity within the industry. There are numerous workshops and retailers operating under this same model around the world, and Monak Mods is one of them.

Complete Independence from Seiko Watch Corporation

Monak Mods is not affiliated with, associated with, authorized by, sponsored by, or endorsed by Seiko Watch Corporation, Seiko Instruments Inc., or any of their subsidiaries, affiliates, or related brands.

We are not official Seiko distributors. We have no commercial, contractual, or any other kind of agreement with that company. Monak Mods operates entirely independently.

The products we sell are not Seiko watches. They are watches independently assembled by Monak Mods, incorporating genuine mechanical movements alongside carefully selected aftermarket components.

Use of the Term "Seiko" and Caliber References

References to terms such as "Seiko," "NH35," "NH36," or other caliber names that may appear on our website are used solely for descriptive and technical purposes — to identify the compatibility and characteristics of the movement used in each piece.

This descriptive use is protected under the nominative fair use doctrine, recognized under EU intellectual property law and widely accepted in the United States under established trademark law principles. It permits reference to a registered trademark when the sole purpose is to accurately describe the characteristics of a product, without creating confusion about its commercial origin or suggesting any affiliation.

In no case does the use of these terms imply that our products are manufactured, distributed, or endorsed by Seiko Watch Corporation.

Origin of Movements and Components

The mechanical movements used in our watches are sourced through legitimate commercial channels within the global watch component market. These are genuine movements obtained from specialized suppliers within the industry.

The aftermarket components — cases, dials, hands, crystals, and bracelets — are manufactured by specialized third parties and sourced from trusted suppliers with experience in the watchmaking industry.

Monak Mods does not manufacture movements or components. Our specialty is the selection, combination, and assembly of these elements to create watches with a quality end result.

Legality of Our Activity

The assembly and sale of modified watches using genuine movements and aftermarket components is a legal activity in the European Union, the United States, and the vast majority of international jurisdictions. No regulation prohibits this practice when carried out transparently, without impersonating any brand, and without misleading consumers about the origin of the product.

Monak Mods strictly complies with this condition. Our products are always presented as independent creations — never as official products of any watch manufacturer.
