How We Build Our Watches
We believe a watch should be more than just an accessory. Every piece we create is assembled individually, with real attention to detail and a genuine focus on quality. Here's exactly how we do it — from the first component to the moment it ships.
Every Monak Mods watch is built by hand, to order. We don't work with mass production or pre-built inventory. Your watch is made specifically for you — that's what makes it different.

The Foundation: Genuine Mechanical Movements

At the heart of every Monak Mods watch is a genuine automatic mechanical movement — primarily the NH35 and NH36 calibers, widely recognized in the watchmaking industry for their reliability, durability, and precision. These movements are sourced through legitimate channels and form the technical foundation on which each watch is built.

Around this foundation, we select quality aftermarket components — cases, dials, hands, and bracelets — designed specifically for these calibers. The result is a watch with a distinctive aesthetic and a character of its own.

A Handcrafted Process

Every Monak Mods watch is assembled by hand, component by component. This approach allows us to dedicate time and precision to each piece, ensuring that every element is correctly aligned, fitted, and mounted before moving to the next stage.

Because this is a manual process, each watch may present slight natural variations inherent to individual assembly. We consider this part of the unique character of each piece — not a flaw.

Carefully Selected Materials

Every component is chosen with purpose — balancing aesthetics, resistance, and durability. We don't use the same default parts across all models. Each reference has its own component selection, chosen so that the whole works as a cohesive piece.

  • 316L stainless steel cases
  • Scratch-resistant sapphire crystal
  • NH35 / NH36 automatic mechanical movements
  • Aftermarket dials and hands from specialized manufacturers
  • Bracelets and straps selected per model

All components are individually verified before assembly begins.

Individual Assembly

Once components are selected and verified, the watch is assembled by our team in a controlled environment. During this phase, the movement, dial, hands, case, and all other elements are mounted to form the final piece.

Each stage of assembly is carried out with the appropriate tools to ensure components are correctly installed without risk of damage — especially for delicate parts like the dial and sapphire crystal.

Quality Control

Before shipping, every watch goes through a final review in which we verify:

  • Correct functioning of the automatic movement
  • Condition of the crystal, case, and exterior finishing
  • Alignment of hands and dial
  • Proper crown operation — winding, setting, and sealing
  • Full visual inspection before packaging

Only after completing this review is the watch packaged and prepared for shipment. If we detect any issue during this phase, the watch is held and corrected before it leaves our hands. We don't ship anything we wouldn't be proud of.

Built for You

Every Monak Mods watch is assembled to order. That means every customer receives a piece prepared specifically for them. We don't keep finished watches in stock — the process begins when you place your order.

This approach allows us to maintain a consistent level of attention to detail and ensure that every watch that leaves our workshop meets the standards we hold ourselves to.

Transparency About What We Do

Monak Mods watches are handcrafted modifications — known in the community as "mods" — that combine genuine mechanical movements with carefully selected aftermarket components. We are not movement manufacturers, and we have no affiliation with any watch brand. What we do is source, combine, and assemble quality components to create watches with their own identity.

We believe this transparency is part of what defines us. If you have any question about the components in a specific model, we're always available at help@monakmods.com.
